One of the fun things I get to do with my computer science kids at school is show them a cool new website/web service every now and again. For no particular reason, other than the fact that everyone seemed to enjoy it when I shared the Pandora site, here are a couple of neat (and free!) sites:
1. Springdoo -- allows you to send "voice email" instead of text email. All the hard work is done by their site, so it's outrageously easy to send a voice message to someone. I'm sure this type of service will continue to develop, but it's a pretty cool idea.
2. Ma.gnolia -- a really nifty new social bookmarking service. If social bookmarking is new to you, think of being able to access your favorites (bookmarks) from any computer. That's just the beginning. Then imagine being able to join a group, say of people interested in "gardening" or whatever, and being notified whenever someone in that group finds a cool new site/resource related to gardening. Add to the mix the fact that any website you bookmark will automatically be saved to your profile, so that even if the site goes down (ie. off the web for some reason or another), you still have a copy of it. Pretty nifty stuff.
Just some random stuff. Hope someone finds a use for it.
