More Fuel for the "Harry Potter is Evil" Fans

I was recently checking the CBC RSS feeds and what was one of the top world news headlines? "J.K. Rowling Reveals Dumbledore is Homosexual" I mean, come on! Who cares? Supposedly Rowling has envisioned Dumbledore as a gay man who has been spurned by a past love. Now conservative evangelicals can reopen the "Harry Potter is Evil" debate and say, "I told you so!"

In other Rowling news, she recently gave an interesting interview on her personal religious beliefs. She does claim to be a Christian, and since the end of the Potter series has revealed that she purposely wove biblical themes into the series, most specifically in the final novel, Harry Potter and teh Deathly Hallows. When asked how she felt about all the controversy created in the right wing Christian community over the Potter series, she has this to say:

Rowling shrugs off Christians who've denounced her work's potentially negative influence, saying, "I go to church myself. I don't take any responsibility for the lunatic fringes of my own religion."

Got to love that quote!
