a Slice of Melville

A Slice of My Life

Hello Everyone

You may not have noticed, what with being "not bored" [split infinitive, I know] and reading almanacs, etc.., but we've moved to Melville. It's hard to believe it actually happened. As it happens, we're still alive and actually doing well. Our renovations are basically done- Dan finished putting up the baseboards the other day so the living room is looking finished. There's a bit of unpacking to do, but nothing too major.

Melville itself seems to be a nice little town/city- very friendly, and everything from obvious redneck farm kids to the mowhawked skater/punk kids.

It's strange how everything around you can change so quickly, and suddenly many of your bearings are gone- not all- but enough to be unsettling. We're made to be quite resilient I think, and yet these things affect us in ways we don't necessarily notice right now, and maybe not for quite a while. And part of being resilient involves being broken, and re-evaluating what defines you, what God is calling you to, and then reshaping to reflect same ideas, or new ideas in new environments.

Tomorrow will be our first attempt at going to church here. We're going to miss the fellowship and communion we have had with all of you.

Much love

Naomi
